The Government of Niue has issued a notice tonight via social media that the country is experiencing unusual weather activity which may be a result of the volcanic eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano in the Kingdom of Tonga which began on December 20 2021.
People in Niue are urged to take care at coastal areas and to remain safe indoors away from the sea.
Meanwhile in Tonga a tsunami warning is in full force. There are reports that volcanic ash is currently falling in the capital Nuku’alofa.
